Xi Graphics Inc. Introduces 3D Graphics Support For Matrox Cards
3D Linux graphics driver supports DualHead G400, delivers record 2D performance

DENVER - The first 3D Accelerated-X(TM) graphics support software package for a Matrox graphics card has been released by Xi Graphics Inc., a Denver company that specializes in premium graphics support software for Linux and
UNIX® systems. The 3D Linux Graphics Driver (LGD) is downloadable through Xi Graphics' Web site at www.xig.com.

"The DualHead feature on the card has proved quite popular with our Accelerated-X customers, who until now could only run DualHead in 2D," said David H. Methvin, Xi Graphics' president and CEO. "The Matrox G400 also is an exceptionally fast card in 2D performance, racking up over 105 Xmarks at eight bit color depth; until this card, our record was about 80 Xmarks. The 3D performance is especially good for games."

Matrox's DualHead Display feature allows the user to split the display buffer, with half on one screen and half on the other screen, providing essentially a Single Logical Screen capability with the two screens. The LGD released this week supports the 32MB model of the G400. Support for the 16MB variant is expected to be ready soon.

The 3D Linux drivers are OpenGL 1.1.1 compliant, support libGLU and libGL. A demo version of the LGD can be downloaded from Xi Graphics' Web site for a limited time tryout. To make the software permanent, a key can be purchased
online from www.xig.com for $129. The Key is then e-mailed to the customer to unlock the demo product.

Xi Graphics Inc. Releases 3D Linux Graphics Software Update

Xi Graphics introduced the 3D for Linux product line in December 1999 as the first OpenGL compliant 3D graphics support software available for use with Linux. The initial release of the boxed product supported more than 30 graphics cards.

Linux Graphics Drivers were introduced as a pilot program in February with support for a list of seven graphics cards. That list has increased to more than a dozen cards, and new ones are added regularly. Each LGD is a complete 3D Accelerated-X Display Server with graphics support for a specific card. The current list of available drivers is available at http://www.xig.com/Pages/3D-LGD-List.html.

The 3D product line is available in both boxed form and in a downloadable, demo form. Boxed products are available direct from Xi Graphics and through a network of resellers. The downloadable products are presently only available from the company's Web site, but may be offered by some of the company's resellers in the near future.
