DENVER Xi Graphics, Inc., a privately held firm that specializes in premium graphics support software for Linux and UNIX systems, announced today the release of version 6 of their line of Accelerated-X Display Servers for laptop, desktop and multi-head use. The newest version of Accelerated-X continues to offer the high performance and stability which have come to be associated with the Xi Graphics name. In addition, version 6 offers numerous new features developed in direct response to customer requests.
"The additional features offered in version 6 are, for the most part, in response to customer inquiries and requests," said Dan McGregor, National Sales Manager at Xi Graphics. "We are particularly sensitive to market demands and set our engineering goals in accordance with what our customers want. This is particularly important with the popularity of Linux on the rise, resulting in new markets and potential customers appearing every day."
The emphasis on customer satisfaction goes beyond product enhancements. "We feel that our attention to the needs of our customers is one of the things that really sets us apart from our competitors," continued McGregor. "Customer requests have prompted the addition of version 6 features such as support for VMWare, USB in Linux and Digital Flat Panels, to name a few." This customer-oriented attitude is also apparent in the free technical support that comes with all Xi Graphics products.
Some of the new features now available in Accelerated-X v6 include:
- XiG X Full Screen Extension (XiG-XFS) support for VMWare
- Preliminary USB support for Linux and Solaris 8
- Digital Flat Panels (DFP) support
- Dual View support for cards such as the Matrox G400 and Appian Duet
- Touchscreen support and TSC calibration support via the tscal program
- A totally new, dynamically loadable, I/O subsystem.
- LBX and XKB extension support

The cost of Accelerated-X v6 is $99.95, $149.99 and $199.95, plus shipping, for desktop, laptop and multi-head, respectively. For customers supplying the serial number of an Accelerated-X v5 server, the upgrade to v6 is half the product price. International pricing is slightly higher. Downloadable demos for the desktop and laptop servers are available at Xi Graphics Web site at www.xig.com. Accelerated-X servers are available in boxed product form only and include a CD-ROM, manual and release notes.
